Nicholas was one of my life’s exceptional people. He was a wonderful head of the family to both the Leonards and Churches, always looking out for all of us, with such remarkable kindness and love. I wonder if he knew how deep the positive impact his way of being had on us all, particularly in how we related to each other. I feel Nicholas’s most wonderful legacy to us, often hidden behind his twinkling humour and extraordinary zest for life, was teaching us how to look out for each other and how very important kindness is.
